Renewals are possible for only some interlibrary loan (ILL) materials. Sometimes lending libraries will not allow renewals for a particular item. This is usually printed on the paperwork that's on the front of your ILL book.
To request a renewal for a checked out item:
Login to your OneSearch My Account:
Then click on the ILL Renewals link:
this will take you to your ILL (ILLiad) main menu page
Login directly to your ILL account, this will also open at the ILLiad main menu.
On the left hand side of the main menu page under View, click on View and Renew Checked Out Items.
You will now see a list of your checked out items showing the titles and due dates. Choose the item you wish to renew (If renewals are allowed for that item) by clicking on the transaction number. This will open the detailed record for that item.
Click on the Renew Request link at the top of the page. This link does not appear when renewals are not possible.
You're done! This is all you need to do. Only one renewal is possible for each ILL item (when renewals are allowed).
We (Brandeis Libraries) send the renewal request on to the lending library. Sometimes it takes a few days to receive a reply from the lender.
Remember that renewals are at the discretion of the lending library and sometimes the answer is no, even though a renewal request has been submitted. We will try our best for you!
If the answer is no: You will receive an email saying that the renewal request has been denied. Please return the book!
If the answer is yes: You will receive an email with the new due date.

You can only submit a renewal request starting one week before the due date and up to 10 days after the due date. Once a book is very overdue, renewals are no longer possible and the item must be returned.
Sometimes you might notice that after you have asked for a renewal that the due date was changed to a later date and then is changed back again. That’s because we need to temporarily change the due date to the date we are asking for, and sometimes the lending library changes it to a different due date.
