PsycINFO: Introduction

How to use the EBSCO interface for the PsycINFO database

Introduction

PsycINFO through EBSCOhost is your go-to database for articles, research, and academic literature in psychology, medicine, psychiatry, sociology, education and other social sciences. This guide will show you how to optimize your PsychINFO searches.

Here's a sampling of what you can find on PsycINFO:

  • More than 2500 peer-reviewed journals
  • Books, book chapters, and dissertations
  • Journals from 50 countries in 29 languages
  • The Thesaurus of Psychological Terms to help you with searching
  • Primary sources going back to the 16th century

PsychINFO does NOT include popular sources (Psychology Today, Time, etc). This ensures you will find only scholarly sources, but if you are looking for popular publications, try Academic Search Premier, LexisNexis, or another general database.
