UWS Online Research Education Modules (OREMS)

This Online Resource Education Module will introduce you to library databases. You will learn about different types of databases and how to choose the right database for your current research need.

What is a subject-specific database?

In addition to general databases like OneSearch (which is really a combination of many databases), there are also databases that focus on a particular discipline or theme.

Because they're designed for a specific purpose, subject databases often have special features that can help you find what you're looking for. For example, the Psychology database APA PsycInfo allows you to filter your results by methodology or instrument used, which isn’t an option in more general databases.

How to find subject-specific databases

The Databases A-Z list on the library website lists all of the databases the library subscribes to. You can browse databases by subject area to find one or more that relate to your current project.
