  3. Add a name (required) and a description (optional) for the activity. The activity name will display on your main course page.
  4. Scroll to the Miscellaneous settings section to set the parameters for the activity. The important settings to review for this activity are:
    • Allow enrollment to multiple groups: Check the box if students can enroll themselves in multiple groups. Leave the box unchecked if students can only choose one group.
    • Publish results: If you don't want students to know who is in the groups, select "Do not publish results to students". If you only want them to see after they choose, select "Show results to students only after they answer".
    • Allow choice to be updated: Select whether students can change their minds after their initial selection.
    • Allow more than one choice to be selected: Select whether students can choose a single choice or more than one choice.
    • Limit the number of responses allowed: This option allows you to limit how many students can enroll in each group.
      • If there is no limit to how many students can enroll in a group, leave this setting as Disabled.
      • If you want to restrict them to selecting a particular number, Enable this setting. Enter the maximum number of students that can enroll in each group in the General limitation box. Click the Apply to all groups button to set this enrollment limit for all groups in this activity.
IMPORTANT If you enable this setting but don't enter a number then your students won't be able to select any choices and will get confused!
  5. Scroll down to the Groups section to specify which groups students can choose from.
    • The list on the left displays all available groups and groupings.
      • To add one or several groups, select these from the list and click Add.
      • To add all groups from a grouping, select the grouping and click Add.
    • The selected groups will appear on the list on the right.
    • To remove any groups from the selection, select them from the list on the right and click Remove.
  6. You may choose to customize your activity further using the other settings on this page. These additional settings are optional.
  7. Save your activity.
