Implementing Alternative Course Templates

1. Open your new course. From the course header, select the More option and select Course Reuse from the dropdown menu.

2. On the dropdown menu on the left side of the screen, select Restore.

3. To restore a course backup file select Choose a File. From the File picker select Box.

4.Click on the Templates folder within your Box account and select the template you wish to use. Once selected confirm by clicking Select this file.

5. Select Restore.

6. On the next page, Confirm, scroll to the bottom of the page, and select Continue.

7. On the next page, Destination, you can choose one of several options for restoring the backup data into your course. The most common option is Restore into this course → Merge the backup course into this course. Click Continue in your desired section.

8. On the next page, Settings, scroll to the bottom and select continue.
Optional: The Schema page allows you the opportunity to uncheck and remove any specific items from being imported (if desired).  Click Next.

9.  The next page, Review, gives you one last opportunity to review the content that is being restored into the course.  If you need to make changes select the Previous button at the bottom. Select the button Perform Restore to begin the restore process.

10. When the restore is complete, a green banner will appear, confirming that everything was restored properly.  Click Continue to return to the course page into which you restored the data backup.

Add Mid Semester Feedback

An updated version of the anonymous two-question feedback activity from LATTE has been added to a course backup file. This file contains only that activity and is available in the shared Box folder with default course templates. 

  1. Open your course. From the course header, select the More option and select Course Reuse from the dropdown menu.
  2. On the dropdown menu on the left side of the screen, choose Restore.
  3. Select Choose a file and choose Box from the file picker.
  4. Log in to your Box account and grant access.
  5. In the next window, find the Moodle Alternative Course Templates folder.
  6. Select the 2questionfeedback file, then click Select this file.

 Part 1 of how to import a Feedback activity from Box into a Moodle Course

  1. Click Restore.
  2. On the Confirm screen, scroll to the bottom and select Continue.
  3. On the Destination screen, ensure Merge the backup course into this course is selected, then click Continue.
  4. On the Settings screen, scroll to the bottom and select Continue.
  5. On the Schema screen, scroll to the bottom and select Next.
  6. On the Review screen, scroll to the bottom and select Perform Restore.
  7. Once the restore is complete, select Continue.
  8. The new Mid-Semester Feedback activity will appear at the bottom of the first section of your course. You can now move it and make it available to students.
