Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies

Recommended resources and strategies for research in Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies.

This page includes activities for the library research session on September 25, 2024.

Activity 1: Find media coverage of international adoptions

Work with a classmate. Search for media coverage of international adoptions from at least two of the resources listed below:

Compare news coverage from different publications. Do some news outlets use different terminology to describe the topic? Do any articles present a different point of view?

Add screenshots of two news articles to the class slide deck.

Please be prepared to share some of your findings with the class.

Activity 2: Explore databases for Finding Scholarly Secondary Sources

Working with two classmates, visit the second class slide deck. Your group has been assigned a disciplinary database for locating scholarly sources. Using the keywords we've brainstormed related to critical adoption studies, try some database searches with your group. Find a relevant source to share with the class and answers the questions about your group's database.

Please be prepared to share your findings with the rest of the class.
