Provides access to primary sources for studying the history of the film and entertainment industries, from the era of vaudeville and silent movies through to the 21st century. Includes US and UK trade magazines covering film, music, broadcasting, video gaming, and theater, along with film fan magazines and music press titles. Coverage varies, with a focus on 20th Century material.
The majority of resources for finding film reviews are print volumes. Once you have a citation for a review you'd like to read, use Find Journals to find out if the cited journal is available at Brandeis (in print, microform or electronically). Many reviews from Variety and the New York Times are also available in print; see details below. Use interlibrary loan to obtain copies of journal articles not available at Brandeis.
The two history databases are useful for establishing the historical context of the film, director etc. you are studying. MLA International Bibliography contains a great deal of literary analysis of film ("works on literature...transmitted...in audiovisual media").
