HIST 158A: Race, Riot, and Backlash in Modern America

Recommended resources and strategies for research in HIST 158A: Race, Riot, and Backlash in Modern America, taught by Professor Leah Wright Rigueur.

Welcome!

Welcome to the library resource guide for HIST 158A: Race, Riot, and Backlash in Modern America. This guide provides a list of recommended resources and research tips for identifying primary and secondary sources.

The Library knows that there are extra challenges to conducting research during a pandemic. We're offering a number of services to help out during this time:

  • Contactless lockers in Usdan!
  • Paging service - we’ll pull most things from the stacks for pickup
  • Scan on Demand - get some sections or chapters of a book emailed to you as a PDF.
  • Interlibrary loan - if we don’t have it, we’ll ask another library to send it
  • Extended hours for our Research Help chat service - Use the yellow slideout button on the right side of library webpages.

Please feel free to contact Laura Hibbler (lhibbler@brandeis.edu), library liaison for history, with any questions.

Ask questions at any stage of your research process:

  • How do I choose or narrow a research topic?
  • How do I find sources?
  • How do track down sources that are hard to find?
  • How do I cite my sources?
