ArcGIS desktop software is designed to run in Windows. We recommend that Mac users use Amazon AppStream to access ArcGIS Pro. (Instructions for accessing AppStream are listed earlier on this page).
If you don't want to use AppStream, the other access option for Mac users is to install a virtual machine. Contact our ITS Help Desk for assistance before you install VMWare Fusion or other virtual machine software. They can help you check if your computer has the appropriate amount of processing power and storage to run a virtual machine and ArcGIS.
If you're a Mac user and would like to install ArcGIS on your computer, you can complete the following steps to install VMWare and Windows OS on your Mac:
ArcGIS Pro is installed on computers in the Information Commons, Farber 101, Goldfarb 230, and the Digital Scholarship Lab. The Digital Scholarship Lab is currently the only PC lab in the library. The other computer labs consist of desktop Macs that run ArcGIS Pro via VMWare Fusion.
The Digital Scholarship Lab provides in-person and remote access to current Brandeis community members. The lab is intended for academic use only and users must attend a Digital Scholarship Lab training before gaining access to the lab.
Make sure you sign out of ArcGIS Pro once you are finished using the software to ensure that other users don't have accidental access to your ArcGIS account.
