Overview

ESRI ArcGIS Online logo

ArcGIS Online is a web-based GIS that lets you create and share maps, scenes, apps, layers, analytics, and data. Brandeis has a site-wide license to ArcGIS Online, which provides us with access to subscription content, collaborative group spaces, and more storage space than public ArcGIS Online accounts.

With ArcGIS Online, you can:

  • Create interactive online maps and perform basic analysis
  • Edit and share map content with collaborators in private ArcGIS Online groups
  • Share and embed maps in external websites, ESRI web apps, etc.
  • Upload data in a number of file types: .shp (saved as a .zip file); .csv, .txt, .gpx; .kml, .kmz (with some limitations); etc.

Attend a workshop

Brandeis Library offers free workshops for members of the Brandeis community. We currently offer GIS workshops on the following tools: ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, R and ggplot, and Social Explorer.

If you can't make it to one of our scheduled workshops, you can submit a request for an ArcGIS, Social Explorer, QGIS, or R workshop. We can tailor the workshop to your discipline(s) or teach a general workshop. We just ask that there are 3 or more people interested in attending the session.
