Issue
ArcGIS Pro software abruptly shuts down after completing multifactor authentication with Duo.
Solution
This is a known bug with Duo multifactor authentication and ArcGIS software. When you sign into ArcGIS Pro (or other Esri desktop software), you'll need to use the "Sign in using Browser" option instead of trying to sign into the software via the default pop-up window.
This help page from Eastern Washington University that shows where you can access the "Sign in using Browser" link. Once you use the "Sign in using Browser" sign-in method, the software will default to using the browser sign-in option and you shouldn't experience this bug again.

You will lose your connection to Amazon AppStream after a period of inactivity. This can result in data loss for your ArcGIS Pro project if you are not actively saving your work. ArcGIS Pro will create a project backup every 5 minutes (after you've saved your initial project), which is helpful in cases when the software crashes but it's good practice to regularly save your progress.
