E-Resources Help

Having trouble accessing an e-journal or database?

How do I tell what years of an e-journal we have access to?

Clicking the Brandeis Access (OpenURL link resolver) button from an article citation in an external database will bring you to a screen that gives the electronic availability information for the resource.

To see the availability information from within the OneSearch library catalog, click the Online access link.

Logging in on the publisher's website

We recommend accessing journals and databases from the Library's links in OneSearch, Find Journals, or the Database A-Z. These links will always have the proper URL to authenticate through Brandeis.

What if you didn't go through the Library's links but you're trying to access a journal after arriving at a publisher's site through a web search? Many publishers have an "institutional login" or "institutional access" option on their site.

Access through your institution button

Use this to search for Brandeis and select the Brandeis University (Library) login option. (TIP: For some publishers, two Brandeis login options may appear. Always select the option Brandeis University (Library) as this is the option for our OpenAthens login that will connect you with our Library's subscription access.)

Find your institutions search box

Please let e-resources@brandeis.edu know if you have any problems with access.

Prompted for a username and password

Trying to access a full-text article but I am being prompted for a username and password (not my Brandeis login), or I am being asked to purchase the article.

If you are using OneSearch or Find Journals A-Z list, click Online access to see availability information. If the volume and year of the article you are looking for is not included in our subscription, you may submit an ILL request for the article. If the availability information indicates that we should have access to that issue, please email e-resources@brandeis.edu with a description of the problem.
