Moodle Resources for Faculty

Overview

H5P stands for HTML5 Package. The H5P integration in Moodle enables educators to create interactive content such as videos, quizzes, and presentations. H5P content can be created as an activity within a Moodle course, or built separately on the h5p.com site or with the LUMI app for desktop. External H5P content can then be added to your course as an H5P activity or embedded into any other activity or resource.

H5P activities are best-suited for knowledge checks and formative assessment. For security reasons, it is not recommended for summative assessment or substantial graded work.

New H5P Integration

H5P allows faculty to create and share interactive content within Moodle, adding engaging activities to courses without requiring advanced technical skills.
The new H5P integration introduces several improvements::

  • View all H5P activities across courses
  • Duplicate activities, add collaborators, or change owners
  • Combine existing H5P activities into larger content types such as interactive books or course presentations
  • Use the Smart Import AI engine to automatically create content uploaded from documents or videos.
  • H5P content will be stored in a cloud-based hub. This allows you to easily reuse and share any activity across all your current and future courses, eliminating the need to constantly download and upload files.

The old H5P plugin will be retired in Spring 2026. We recommend transferring H5P activities created using the plugin into the new H5P integration.
