Use their Google sheet template to compile a dataset of dates + descriptions; upload it to the TimelineJS converter and produce a professional-looking timeline that can be embedded into your StoryMap. Read about embedding charts into your StoryMap. They provide a few different options for chart builders, including ArcGIS Pro. If you don't have any prior GIS experience, I recommend using ChartBuilder. Chart Builder will provide you with an embed code, and you can paste that into StoryMaps using one of the embed options.
